Who will play who in RLWC 2021?
Who will play who in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup?
Who plays who in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup will soon become much clearer. One thing that isn’t clear, is if the Duke of Sussex will be in attendance. Former Great Britain International Jason Robinson and former Olympic rower Dame Katherine Grainger will be there, but who knows if Harry will turn up? Once again Rugby League is overshadowed by scandal. Anyway enough about that, let’s take a brief look on how the draw will unfold.
The 2021 tournament will be extended from 12 to 16 teams with four groups. England will host Group A, Australia Group B, New Zealand Group C and Tonga Group D.
The reaming countries will be drawn out of three pools. Each Group must have a Pacific nation included. So we will not see Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and Cook Islands all in the same Group.
Pool A – Fiji, Lebanon, Papua New Guinea and Samoa
Pool B – France, Wales, Scotland and Jamaica
Pool C – Greece, Ireland, Italy and Cook Islands
The Women’s World Cup will also be extended from 4 to 8 teams. The 2021 tournament will see two groups of four with England hosting Group A and Australia Group B. A team from each Pool will be drawn out of a pot to see who will be in either Group.
Pool 1 – New Zealand & Papua New Guinea
Pool 2 – Canada & France
Pool 3 – Cook Islands & Brazil
For the Wheelchair Tournament, England will host Group A and France Group B. The draw will be conducted the same as the Women’s draw.
Pool 1 – Wales & Australia
Pool 2 – Scotland & Spain
Pool 3 – USA & Norway
